Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; John 13:3
What an awesome sentence: the omnipotence of Christ combined with the realization of who he was and where he was going! He could do what he wanted, when he wanted. In fact, he knew what was about to transpire and he could have stopped it, but he had focus. The ultimate goal would be to be back in heaven with His father. Getting there would mean a lot of pain and suffering. But he could stop it…but he didn’t. Paul’s teaching in 2 Corinthians 4:17 comes to mind here: “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all“.
Look at the focus; examine the determination. Let’s emulate them both.
