7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. Psalm 91:7-8
Continuing with the theme of God being our refuge, in the face of widespread death and persecution, it is those who have chosen to rest under God’s protection that will be saved.
I know that the last few devotionals have focused on persecution abroad and here, but the West seems to be entering a unique period of history. It’s as if its leaders are more concerned about what the rest of the Western world thinks about them rather than trying to protect its people. More specifically, I’m referring to the influx of Muslims into Europe and soon into the United States. If we continue down this path, Christians will be facing a lot more serious persecution in the West.
I’m actually torn over this political issue. On the one hand, the Bible does teach us to care or the elderly, orphans, and resident aliens. Our leaders, however, have cranked that up several notches by allowing thousands of unvetted, undocumented into the land, the vast majority of whom are male and under 30 years old.
Pray for your leaders. Pray that they make good, reasonable decisions.
