Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 1 Peter 1:1
Peter was writing to persecuted Believers in the region. They did nothing to deserve persecution except for believing in Christ. They needed encouragement, just like we all need encouragement. When you have to scatter, you lose your friends and family members. You feel like you’re all alone. How do you encourage someone like that? You tell them truths they already know but need to be reminded of. You encourage them by informing them that they are not alone in this battle. Peter and others were praying for them to persevere and thrive.
Perhaps you know a Believer who is feeling left out and alone. Encourage them today in the Lord. Let them know you’re praying for them. In fact, pray yesterday’s verse, Philemon 25 over their lives.
