Eternalness of Life

So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

“Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.” John 6:30-34

Interesting. Jesus fed this crowd when it seemed impossible. Now they were asking for a sign. Again, Jesus is trying to tell them about the Bread that would last forever, but they were slow on the take. He was trying to give them a glimpse into the eternal, and they were still looking at earthly things.

We are quick to shake our heads when we read these passages but we have the Written Word of God to read and we still look at temporal things to satisfy us. Sad but true.

As I mentioned a few days ago, we too need to pause to reflect on the eternalness of life and people and yes, things. It would only take 2-3 minutes a day to change the course of our lives if we did this for an entire month.
