1 Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord. Psalm 150:6
It is fitting that this verse finishes the entire Book of Psalms. Embedded in these few words is a command, a role, and a way of life. We certainly shouldn’t forget who we are and who we came from. Without the gift of Him breathing into our lives, we are dust. We praise Him because we CAN breathe and we do have life.
We’ve already seen that all of God’s other creation praises Him the only way it can, just by existing.
Fortunately, though, we have tongues to praise him.
Read through this psalm again. Think about its words. Often.
