A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping. Proverbs 19:13
This verse, like all others, transcends cultures and eras. We are more than 3000 years removed from when this verse was written, and it still makes sense in our world today.
Everyone’s heard about (and pictures in their minds) the stereotypical “nagging” wife. She is not happy until Task A is done, after that Task B, and so forth. Many men walk out the door when the nagging wife begins, well, to nag.
It’s interesting, then, to see the object of the comparison, namely “a constant dripping.” I’ve had those before and the only thing I wanted to do is to stop it any way I can. Why? Because it’s annoying. A quarrelsome wife can be annoying.
Pray for your family today. Pray that God will continue to use your family – with all its foibles and quirkiness – to change lives all around you.
