Wouldn’t it be nice if we knew the secret of how to get God to bless a nation? The “recipe” is right here: Fear Him. We know those who are godless won’t fear Him, but what about us? Do we fear Him? Are we troubled by the sin and degradation of culture both inside and outside the church? As we discussed numerous times in the book of Proverbs, the fear of God is difficult to explain and define, but we certainly know when someone isn’t fearing Him. Suffice to say, fearing Him involves reverence, honor, and respect.

When God chooses to bless a nation, He does so because people are fearing Him. How many people would it take to actually fear Him for a nation? There’s no concrete answer to this, and if we knew, it would take the mystery out of prayer.
