Finding Bread

Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. John 10:22-25a

Jesus freely admits that He is the Messiah. He had committed an offense worthy of death, that is, if he was merely a man. Now it’s true that when He said “but you do not believe” that they didn’t believe. Why else would they be ready to stone Him a few moments later?

Some people you meet do not really want to know the truth. You’ll never hear them admit it but just by their actions, you can see it’s true. But our job is to tell them the truth, not to make them own up to the truth for only God can judge the hearts and ways of man.

As a college classmate said, “we’re fellow beggars showing others where to find bread.”
