First Gleam of Dawn

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18

This is a beautiful verse, isn’t it? I occasionally get up to view the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a wonderful time of reflection and wonderment.

All who name Christ as Savior are going down a path. We start out with that dim light, just barely visible over the dark horizon. No brightness yet, just a glimmering hope of light. You know it’s going to get brighter and you wait in eager anticipation for the sun just the paint the sky with brilliant colors.

We’re shining the light for others to see. We see clearly the path and want to lead others down that path.

Where are you along the path? More importantly, how’s the light shining from within you? Do you need a time of refreshment? Do you want desperately to be that first gleam of dawn?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
