Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly. Proverbs 13:16
I’ve written elsewhere that most people want to know 90-95% of situations before acting. We rarely have that much information. Often it’s under 50% of what we need to make an informed decision. Part of the wisdom, then, is knowing when along the 50-90% path to make the decision.
On the other hand, some make decisions when they only have an outline knowledge (think 5-10%). They are the risk takers and entrepreneurs. They want to get things done and will sort out the how or why later.
Prudent men act out of knowledge. It’s often critical to ask God what we should do and when we should do it when we are in those gray areas. It’s perhaps the first thing we should do.
