For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Romans 13:4

It’s difficult for some of us to see the Government as “God’s servants for your good,” because more often than not we view Government as a necessary evil that gets in the way of progress. The Government certainly has its share of problems, and efficiency and bureaucracy hampers many administrations. In general, the smaller an organization (be it a company, non-profit, or government agency) is, the more efficient and more receptive to its constituency.

Pray for the government that is over you. As the elections near, pray for God’s hand over those who would choose to direct the affairs of the governments.
