22 “Consider this, you who forget God,
or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
23 Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me,
and to the blameless I will show my salvation.” Psalm 50:22-23
There is a special blessing in store – salvation – to those who honor God. It’s as if the Lord is reminding unbelievers of one of the greatest benefits of believing in God.
Unbelievers still scratch their heads at those who are obedient to God in all they do. For example, National Geographic Traveler featured a Bible School classmate of mine as 2014 Travelers of the Year. Brent Inion and his wife and 9 children set out in 2007 to go from Lancaster Pennsylvania to Argentina by way of RV. They “world school” along the way and minister to villages in need along the way. During that time, they traveled abroad and adopted four special needs children from four different countries.
Unbelievers I am certain will read the National Geographic Travelers magazine and shake their heads at what this family is doing. Fact is, I shake my head while cheering them on at what they’re doing! Their “salvation” is secure in Christ, so they did what they believed God wanted them to do. They are honoring God, but they would be quick to note that they are not trying to earn or buy their salvation.
Would you pray for the Inion family as they make their travels and minister to people along the way? They are making a difference in a world that generally frowns upon such godly obedience.
