The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV
Two days before the New Year becomes a reality, I thought it would be appropriate to start thinking about fresh starts.
As these verses clearly show us, every day is a new day. Even though we run into common scenarios and the same people, God’s mercies are fresh for each of us. The New Year is a time to reflect on the previous year and to look ahead to a fresh start. In reality, though, we can have that fresh start each day, every day. Each year can be made up of 365 fresh starts.
What is preventing you from waking each morning with a fresh start? What is dragging you down and weighing heavy on your heart and mind? Accept his mercies. Embrace them. Wake each morning with the challenge that today will be fresh and wonderful.
A bit Pollyanna you say? Well, I’ve heard about the alternatives, and I’ll stick to fresh and wonderful!
