Have you ever heard or read Scripture that just didn’t make sense at the moment but weeks, months, or even years later, it all fell together? Sometimes Scripture is like that. We don’t get it right away. We sometimes never get it. But as we get into it more, and have it rolling around in our minds more, the Spirit of God works through what we have inside us.

I’ve heard stories of people who were persecuted for their faith who pieced together what they could from the Scriptures they each remembered. Then they memorized what they didn’t already have in their minds. When it’s all you have to go on, you do what you can. And they lived to tell their stories.

Read the Bible today with a newness, a freshness. Use a slightly different version from what you normally read. Don’t go for large sections but for small bite-sized morsels. Meditate on its words. Allow the Spirit of God to use what you read.
