The gift of discernment is important in many real life situations. It’s especially important when the Gospel message is still new and fresh in a region. New churches need to be able to distinguish what is good teaching and what is false teaching. It’s getting to be the case in the West with so much “Emergent Church,” “Prosperity Gospel,” and “Name it and Claim it” teaching. South America seems to have many “Liberation Theology” teaching (liberating the oppressed is the Gospel) that requires heavy discernment.

This is a gift that could benefit all of us.
