8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did. Psalm 95:8-9
If you recall, Meribah is where Moses struck the rock and it poured forth gushing water. It was not a pleasant chapter in Israel’s history. They tested the Lord. Of course they did this quite a bit, but this is one of those instances that angered the Lord.
The point was that Israel hardened its heart.
It’s easy to do. Pain, disappointment, and frustration over days, weeks, and months all lead to a hardening. We then become bitter and spiteful.
The key to preventing this is a daily accounting of all of this bitterness. Letting it all build up just causes more pain and bitterness.
Give it over to Him…daily. Twice or thrive a day if needed.
