5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

1 Peter 5:5-6

Humility in any ministry is essential. Being able to admit you’ve erred or gone too far or said something you shouldn’t have goes against the grain of “never admit you’ve made a mistake.” People admire and follow humble people.

While the instruction calls out young leaders in particular, it’s certainly not reserved for them.

We all need to practice humility, especially as we age. If not, we begin to think we’re invincible and without fault.

Fortunately, if we ask, He will help us to be humble because it does not come naturally.
