Grace and Peace in Abundance

To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood:

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

1 Peter 1:1-2

Peter addresses the Jewish and Gentile believers who have now been sent or dispersed throughout Asia.

Recall that the last command Jesus gave to his Apostles was to go and make disciples of all nations. The Christians have done this, often at the point of a spear, as it were. But they are now scattered throughout.

When you’re in exile from “home,” you need grace and peace. Life is just different from what you are familiar with. That was true of them; it’s true of us. They needed it because many were forcibly scattered. We need to His grace to survive.

As life continues to grow more difficult for Christians in this country, we’ll need even more grace and certainly more peace.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
