Haters Gonna Hate

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’ John 15:22-25

When Jesus came, he exposed sin. He left no one out of the equation. Even though he is referencing many of the leaders he encountered, he came and exposed sin in all of us. The different, however, is that a small percentage of people recognized why He came and repented of their ways.

Not much has changed over the years. Still a small percentage believe. The vast majority of people do not believe, and among them a percentage goes out of their way to harass and ridicule Believers. Fortunately we’re in good company. Jesus Christ Himself was sinless and perfect. and they hated him.

If we’re honest, we can also admit that some will hate us “without reason” despite our best efforts to be pleasant and winsome.
