“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:12-13
Hating evil should a priority in the life of the Believer. I say that because if we want to fear the LORD, we must hate evil. If we fully realized what evil is and what evil does to a society, we’d be astounded. Evil is hard to define but “you know it when you see it.”
Unfortunately, I fear that television news and sitcoms that beam into our houses each night are desensitizing us to what evil truly is. They often make light of perverse and ungodly behavior, and belittle those who are trying to uphold a righteous standard. Not all, but many.
But it should not sway us from doing what is right and hating evil. Jot down some things that you know to be evil where you live. Make the list as long or as short as it needs to be. Then ask the LORD to help you to truly hate those things. I know that statement does sound odd, but it’s right from His word!
