26 May all who gloat over my distress
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who exalt themselves over me
be clothed with shame and disgrace.
27 May those who delight in my vindication
shout for joy and gladness;
may they always say, “The Lord be exalted,
who delights in the well-being of his servant.” Psalm 35:26-27

As mentioned in the previous devotional, you are only responsible for your own actions and not those of your enemies. You really cannot control what others say or do. If you could, then this place would be far messier than it is now because someone could possibly control what you do or say. So what you think about what others say or do is critical because as we are insulted and abused, we can easily internalize and believe what is said about us. That is disastrous to our self-esteem. The only person we should ultimately care about what He thinks about us is God. And verse 27 sums that up: he delights in your well-being.

It’s tough to let insults and abuse roll off our backs, but for our own sanity, we need to give it over to God. The more you think about it and dwell on it, the more difficult it is to throw His way. But, He delights in your well-being. He wants you to maintain your dignity and honor. He has your best interest at heart.
