God knows and understands everything. We try to understand as much as we can about many things but clearly our knowledge of any one thing is tiny. It’s like the difference between infinity and three. Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings are the all time champions at Jeopardy, the knowledge-based adult game.

We even mock people who are not shy about their knowledge level; we call that person a “know-it-all.” God is the ultimate “know-it-all” but in the best sense of the word.

One of the things to be thankful for on this American Thanksgiving Day is God’s understanding of everything known and unknown (to us) about this universe. It certainly takes the pressure off us so we don’t have to pretend we know it all. We do know the God who knows it all. And that’s good enough for me.
