17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and faithful in all he does.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. Psalm 145:17-18
You may recall Jesus’ words to the woman at the well, “God is spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24
Both of these passages remind us to come to him with good motives. If you are coming to Him to “check a box” or to check it off of your “to do list,” you won’t get much out of the encounter. If, however, you lay everything you have at His feet, He will honor that.
Don’t get me wrong. He wants us to come to Him, just as we are. Throughout the Old and New Testament, he implores us to come to Him. In fact I’m sure He wants fellowship with you and me more than we want it with Him.
So that’s what we do.
We come to Him with an open mind, open heart, and open arms.
We come to Him because we need to hear from Him.
We come to Him in truth.
One response to “He Knows the Heart”
