He Sees it All

10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.” Genesis 4:10-12

Even in these few sentences, you can hear the Lord’s anguish over what Cain did. Multiply that by millions of innocent people murdered over the years. Every one of them was precious in God’s sight. What’s the cry of the blood in all these cases? It’s easy to read these verses and move on to the next without realizing God’s care for His creation.

The Lord sees it all, hears it all, and waits to exact punishment. That applies to the corrupt politician as it does to inner city violence. Nothing escapes His watchful eye, nothing.

Most of the time, however, because we don’t see swift punishment, we assume the person “got away with it.” That’s never the case. I am certainly glad I’m not the One who must sort it all out in the end.
