Healing of the Lame

8 In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. Acts 14:8-10

What does “saw that he had faith to be healed” look like? The Holy Spirit revealed this to Paul, and he just did what the Spirit told him to do. Paul had to exercise faith because what if he “got it wrong” and this wasn’t the time or place for this lame man to be healed?

Let’s not lose sight of the larger picture though. Paul through the power of the Holy Spirit healed a lame man. That is a miracle. He jumped up and walked. That’s also a miracle. Has your foot or hand “gone to sleep” because you cut off blood to that extremity? When you do get up, you wobble around for a bit until the leg fully “wakes up.”

Well, this man was born lame. He had never used his legs. At this point his legs would have atrophied. It takes a few moments for blood to circulate again.

What’s the Holy Spirit saying to you today about your faith? What do you believe He wants you to do — or not do?
