2 Hear my prayer, O God;
listen to the words of my mouth. Psalm 54:2
Dr. Howard Hendricks told a story of a very young Believer with a prayer that went something like this: “Hi God, it’s me. James Fernwell. Um, You might remember me. I’m the guy that started believing in you. I’m in central Missouri.” Hendricks remarked that the only thing missing from his introduction was his zip code!
Fortunately for us, God knows where we are and everything about us. Yes, He even knows our zip code even when we don’t call on Him.
But that’s the point, isn’t it?
We tend to complicate things in our life, but sometimes we just need a reminder to go back to the basics.
What are the basics in this context?
Come to Him.
No set agenda.
Nothing to hide.
Nothing to fret over.
