If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house. Proverbs 17:13
I am trying to think of an situation where someone would return evil for good. Actually it happens all the time in the political world. They call it “taking the high moral road.” What it means is that even though your enemy or adversary is using less than honest means to achieve their goal, you still need to do what you know is right. For instance, even though cowardly Al Queda men use women and children as shields, our military does not go about shooting those women and children indiscriminately to get to those men. The military will protect the innocent when they can.
These are the types of situations and decisions that our military faces daily in Iraq and Afghanistan. Regardless of whether you think the United States should be there or not, pray for those soldiers who must make those split-second decisions. Pray also that they will have ample opportunity to reflect on their eternal lives while they’re in the middle of a war zone. They more than any of us know that eternity is but one bullet away for them.
