Hirer or Hiree

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a sluggard to those who send him. Proverbs 10:26

I think the general principle behind this verse is: be careful who you hire to do a job for you, you may well regret it. If you are hiring someone out of pity or family loyalty, you may regret it in the end. It often happens with families. The owner will hire a nephew or brother-in-law only to find out that it was a huge mistake.

But this verse can also be flipped on its back. When someone asks you to do something (as a favor or as a job, doesn’t matter), do you whine endlessly about it or do it willingly and without grumbling? Our attitudes may reveal more about our character than we think.
