His Signature M.O.

15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. Mark 2:15

I don’t have to read further to know that the leaders would be simply apoplectic at Jesus and his merry band of followers. It wasn’t enough to visit one sinful tax collector, but he welcomed many of them. It’s really what He came to do. I suspect it was a rather rowdy bunch if you include the fishermen into the mix. Jokes about professions would have been thrown about, each thinking their profession was better, and Jesus was helping to facilitate it all.

Jesus knew the leaders would be observing it all.

Jesus calls the unlikeliest of people sometimes. In our day and age, it would be Christian motorcycle gangs. They are a rough group already but they also can speak into other the much rougher gang member’s lives than you and I would never be able to do.

Recall later that He called Paul out of his violent past. Many had heard of Paul and wanted nothing to do with him. Who could blame them?

With God, you just never know whose life He will transform. That’s His signature modus operandi. That’s who He is.
