Greet also the church that meets at their house. Romans 16:5
If you’ve lived overseas at all you will know that many churches are really large house churches. One of the main reasons for this is security. In countries where Christians are persecuted, the churches are small and don’t attract a lot of attention. If they attracted attention, the pastors and church leaders could be jailed. This is not a thing of the past; it’s happening today.
One of the benefits of meeting in a smaller setting is that everybody gets to know one another fairly well, and as such, they all begin relationships built on trust. How so? Well, you’re trusting the person sitting across from you not to go to the police after the meeting is over to report what is happening in the house church.
Pray for house churches all across Asia and Africa. Many live in harsh and hostile situations and need great wisdom just to stay out of jails and long term prisons.
