Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

There is a free program on the internet that has made life easy for millions of people who try to promote their business or organization. It’s called If This Then That. Essentially you create “recipes” for tasks you want to do online. For example, if you post an article on Facebook, you can also make sure it gets posted to Twitter, Instagram, and in an email to all your contacts. There are literally thousands of these kinds of “recipes.”

In this Psalm the writer has made one very simple recipe: if you dwell, you will rest. How do you do that? It goes back to something I mentioned a few days ago:

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

We have to come to Him.

Throughout the years I’ve been writing this devotional, that last sentence is probably the key to the Christian life. Whether it’s good times or bad times, persecution or peace, in agony or in bliss, if we feel like or if we don’t, the answer is the same: we come to Him.

What that looks like is a bit different for each of us. If we followed that one “recipe,” 90% of what we face in this life would be easier to face.

It’s a lessen that we must learn and relearn each day.
