He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. Psalm 25:9
Humility is one of those attributes you acquire but if you notice you have it, you’re starting to lose it.
In an “it’s all about me” society, we see proud people all over the place. The humble stand out, which if you think about it, is not what they want. The humble, as this verse points out, want to do what is right and are willing to learn.
Contrast that with the proud, know-it-alls. They have an opinion and you should know that it’s the only opinion you’ll ever need; it’s just that good. It – whatever that happens to be at any moment – is, in fact, all about them.
While we chuckle at the definition, all too often we drift over into that camp.
The important takeaway to this is that wanting to learn what is right in every situation is important even if it means letting go of a long held opinion about something.
Of course all of that is IMHO.
