Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:9-10

Here’s a sobering thought: before we believed in Christ we were enemies of God. We would have incurred the wrath of God were it not for God’s son.

But once we believe, though, God reconciles us to Himself and saves us. We can do nothing to earn it. It’s the Good News or Gospel of Jesus Christ in a nutshell. It’s, as the Scripture says, the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16
