In Desperation

6 Listen to my cry,
for I am in desperate need;
rescue me from those who pursue me,
for they are too strong for me. Psalm 142:6

As the saying goes, desperate times calls for desperate measures. His life was being threatened and he constantly lived on the edge, never knowing when his enemies would finally catch up with him. David prayed because his physical security was at risk. There are other ways we can cry out in desperation.

I’ve asked this question before, and it’s a question I ask myself, “are you desperate for God?” What would it take to make you desperate for God, another crisis, another disappointment? What would your desperation look like? Only you and I can answer these questions about ourselves, but they are questions that are well worth asking.

  1. love how David was so transparent and honest with God about his needs – he was not afraid to cry out to God and his great faith allowed him this dependence on God. David is an example of how life can be for us when we have that kind of faith.
