In The Beginning Was the Word

NOTE: I am transitioning to a new platform with a new web address: https://dailydevotionals.substack.com

Please go there to sign up for these devotionals. Same author, same topics. 🙂

I have been having too many problems with emailing these out lately, and that is a stable platform. Thank you and Lord Bless!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.

John 1:1-2

Foundational to the Christian faith is Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity. John, one of the Twelve Disciples wrote much about the divinity and humanity of Jesus.

In these two verses, we get a glimpse at the Trinity.

I recall many years ago reading these verses with a 44-year Colonel in the Mongolian Army (in a Russian Bible). I distinctly remember him reading these two verses slowly and multiple times, and trying to make logical sense of it. Here was a man who worshiped at the feet of Lenin; Communism was his religion – in his own words. The words were powerful enough for him to stop and analyze them. He never did grasp the concept, because the leap of faith was too great for him. He always reverted to “I believe in Lenin!” Lenin, though dead, was someone he could grasp.

For the Christian, however, these are two very powerful verses. Memorize them for they will bring you joy and a slightly greater understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ.
