Do all these evildoers know nothing?

They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on the Lord.

But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous. Psalm 14:4-5

Sometimes the ungodly scoff at the gathering of Believers. We’re coming upon a season where the unbelievers and atheists do what they can to thwart the joy and gaiety of Believers. They try to legislate Christmas out of the public arena, but why? Are they just killjoys who have too much time on their hands? I doubt it. These verses provide a clue – not quite the answer – to their lack of joy and merriment during the holiday season: they dread it because they have nothing to be joyous about.

They see the Believers gather and want to put a halt to it. Is it because God Himself is “present in the company of the righteous” that they scoff and mock and legislate? Probably.

So there is power when Believers unite and come together, probably more than we realize. As we enter into the next month of holidays, pray for the atheists you know. Pray that God will open their minds to the truth and joy of the season. Pray that God will remove the spiritual blinders from their eyes.
