3 He subdued nations under us,
peoples under our feet.
4 He chose our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Psalm 47:3-4
When this was written, God had secured significant victories for the Israelites. They were brought into the Promised Land, which was their inheritance.
Similarly, “we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:11-12
Two other New Testament verses make this clearer.
- knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:24
- Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15.
Our inheritance is heaven. It’s not something we deserve or merit or earn. We inherit it.
Now, what was the word we discussed yesterday? Awesome!
