Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 29:1-2

Is it even remotely possible to give God the glory due His name? Probably not, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.

The U.S. Coast Guard has an unofficial motto that extends beyond Semper Paratus (which means “Always Ready”).

“You have to go out, but you don’t have to come back.”

It’s a selfless commitment to do the right thing even if it puts your life in danger.

While not giving the Lord the glory and strength will not put us in harm’s way, we still need to regularly make a valiant attempt.

And lest we forget:

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” Luke 19:39-40

It’d be really embarrassing to be replaced by stones.
