I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit— I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Paul is obviously in anguish over his people, the Jews. They have so much going for them because of who they are, but he cries out for them.

The State of Israel today is in political turmoil as I write this. The entire Muslim world, and in particular, Iran is out to destroy the nation of Israel. It’s only a matter of time before Iran is finished with the nuclear weapon. President Achmedinajab has said he will use it (the very one he denies making). No one doubts his sincerity in the matter.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Israel has waged war with its Muslim neighbors twice in recent history and soundly defeated them. No one is quite sure how the United States would react if that were to occur again.

Pray for wisdom. Once again Israel seems to be fighting for its very existence.
