16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire; at your rebuke your people perish. Psalm 80:16

Throughout this entire passage (vv 12-16) the theme is about the vine and how it has been decimated. Asaph suggested in verse 16 that it should be burned even. The vine – children of Israel – were at the very mercy of God. Their existence hung on a very small thread. At any moment they could have been annihilated.

The things change the more they stay the same.

Fast forward 3000 years and Israel’s existence is still being held by a thread, this time, though, by outside forces. While I wrote a bit a few days ago about Iran’s people, its government is a menace to put it lightly. They want to destroy Israel with nuclear weapons.

Pray for tiny Israel. Pray that many will seek the Lord God Almighty in the midst of impending doom. Pray that Christ will be made known throughout the land.
