“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5

When combined like this, both parts of this verse flow smoothly. How do we take refuge in Him? We read up and study about Him and His ways.

When we hide the Word of God in our hearts, it becomes a shield for us. The Holy Spirit brings what we’ve memorized to the forefront of our minds, and it protects us. Despite what may be going on around us, His word protects us. Truth is like that.

Today take the time to memorize a verse in the Bible. Pick a verse out of Psalms, for instance, and commit it to memory. If you have to say itn 2000 times over and over again, do it. The Word of God is that important.
