In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:23-24

I find it amazing and troubling that in this day and age people still flock to the evangelists who tell you that God wants you to be wealthy. Few people within that person’s following ever get to that point but the evangelists certainly do. It really doesn’t take much to “connect the dots” between the money-hungry evangelist and his/her congregation/audience. In other words, the evangelists are fleecing their congregations to prove their point about God’s riches. To these false teachers I have one word for you: Sudan

Note to Mr and/or Mrs Telepreacher: If you think your message of prosperity is for all of God’s children, take it on the road to where they need the wealth the most: Sudan and South Sudan.

These fraud preachers would never do that because, well, quite frankly, (1) the Believers there are content with what they have (or at least it doesn’t bother them), and (2) they cannot fleece money out of impoverished peoples.

That being said, what would you imagine the fine Believers in South Sudan and Sudan ask God the Father for as prescribed in these verses?

Peace?

Joy?

Their daily bread?

A heart for the people?

Boldness?

Do you imagine any of them pray for worldly riches or millions of dollars? A sturdy roof over their heads or moderately clean drinking water would be the closest they could come to a wealth and prosperity message.

Perhaps then we in the West can learn from their example instead of running after the distorted view we tend to take (of these verses). When the Gospel message is mixed with a wealth and prosperity theme, the Gospel becomes corrupted.

Continue to pray for the Believers in Sudan and South Sudan. Sudan is threatening war with South Sudan over their wealth of oil. Most of the people we talked with in South Sudan were affected by the first war (before South Sudan became a recognized country).
