Kings of the Earth

12 He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth. Psalm 76:12

Have you ever wondered why Satan hates Believers? One of the many reasons is that he hates it that the Bible-believing Christian is seeking to live a holy life. He hates that because it reminds him of what he could have had.

That’s why Satan is also referred to the Prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:1,2), Ruler of this world (John 12:31-32), and God of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). Satan still has some power in this life, and one of those powers is to influence leaders. World leaders do some very harsh things to men and women of faith. Often there is no logical explanation for what they do except that they want to destroy the faith. Because Satan is called the accuser of the Brethren (Revelations 12:10), it stands to reason that he is ultimately behind the attacks on Believers.

Think about Pontius Pilate for a moment. He couldn’t quite figure out Jesus. He knew there was something special about Him but couldn’t quite discern the uneasiness. In his own twisted way, Pilate feared God. Unfortunately he feared the people and the priests more.

Pray for your leaders. Pray that they will have a strong fear of the Lord.
