10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’” Psalm 95:10-11
It seems as though the Israelites were very slow learners. Even though they were in the desert for 40 years, however, God was still patient in teaching them the basics such as contentment, thankfulness, and well, patience. They were slow because they forgot about God’s blessings. Even as He was blessing them, they forgot it was God who was doing the blessing.
Sound familiar to any of us?
If God wants you to learn something, it make take Him 40 years to get through to you! Even if you think you learned something, you could very easily be tested to see if it really sunk in.
Fortunately God is patient, more so than we would ever be.
