40 Therefore the Lord was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance.
41 He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them.
42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.
43 Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. Psalm 107:40-43
The Israelites learned their lessons slowly. Since the time of Jacob they have shown the same pattern many times over.
1. They sinned.
2. God became angry.
3. God sent Israel’s enemies to oppress them
4. God delivered them from the enemies.
Why couldn’t the Israelite learn their lesson the first time or even the twentieth time? Why were they so “thick headed?”
Sound familiar?
If it does, it’s because we find ourselves similar situations. We sin when we know some of the consequences of that sin. We sin, and we even have a greater comprehension of the Messiah and His ultimate sacrifice for us.
So, then, why are we so thick headed?
