Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.
Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:26-27
The last two verses in this chapter complement verse 25. And all three verses are a byproduct of verse 23. Verse 23 again states that “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” It’s vitally important in our Christian walk. By now hopefully you have memorized and internalized and saturated yourself with Proverbs 4:23.
Now the Lord will be able to use that teensy verse to do wonders in your life. The Holy Spirit will use those few words to “prick” your heart when you aren’t guarding your heart. He’ll make you very uncomfortable (Biblical term is conviction) when you are straying. Ask the Lord to help you to keep your feet on solid ground and not to stray to the left or right.
I am convinced that God wants to use those few words to strengthen your character and growth in Him.
