Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine. Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die. John 12:30-32

Early into his ministry, Jesus alluded to how he was to die. His followers were a little slow, much like we would be. Most people don’t predict with accuracy how they will die. Then again, there was only one Son of God foretold by the prophets of old.

Years later what he was saying now would come back into the minds of those who heard. But for now it was a puzzle to them.

There are many things that God does in our lives that we puzzle over. Many questions, many whys, many “I just don’t get its”. The followers probably understood years from this point about what He had said. It may take that long for us to understand. Sometimes we never do understand. That’s the beauty of why God is God and we’re not.
