Light at the End

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 5:10-11

Peter’s prayer should be one of comfort to those enduring hardship and persecution. But it’s also a revealing prayer. “After you have suffered a little while” speaks of the temporariness of both life and suffering.

It’s similar to 2 Corinthians 4:17,

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

Now, going through intense persecution is extremely difficult, especially if it is prolonged over years. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And that light, of course, is Jesus.

To Him be the power for ever and ever!
