For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4
The Bible instructs and encourages us so that we can have hope. Think about that for a second. We, in turn, can pass on that encouragement and hope. It’s encouraging and humbling that we are merely a vessel, a conduit, if you will. We are like the Lipton “flow thru” teabag. When placed in water, the teabag lets the water flow through it in order to get an aroma and a great flavor. The teabag retains its shape but loses a little of the flavor with each dip in the water. The tea flavor permeates the water and makes it taste great. What happens the next day? We get a new bag to dip into the clear hot water.
Today you and I have an opportunity to soak up the Scripture and then encourage those around us. It doesn’t take much encouragement to encourage others but it does take the first step. Plan that step today and encourage just one person.
