Me and My Big Mouth

A fool’s lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. Proverbs 18:6

One of the catch phrases of Lou Abbott of Abbott and Costello fame is when Lou is caught saying something he shouldn’t have. Then to all who are within hearing distance, he says, “Me and my BIG mouth.” It’s funny because we are Lou Abbott.

How many times did you say something you wish you hadn’t? You probably don’t say it every time but you might think, “me and my big mouth.”

Our tongue is a powerful force for good or evil. We can harm and we can heal with it. We’d rather not harm but it happens more than we like to admit. So, in this way we are foolish and bring strife upon ourselves.

Today as you go about your day, guard your words. More importantly, guard your thoughts (. . .and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ – 2 Corinthians 10:5).
